Australia IS considering a fifth Covid shot even though the country has well and truly moved on from the pandemic and case numbers have dropped

- ATAGI will provide their advice on another Covid shot soon
- The Govt is working on campaigns for getting boosters
The Federal government is considering letting Australians get a fifth Covid shot in preparation for winter – as case numbers drop in half over the past month.
The Australian Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation is set to give their advice on another booster shot soon.
Federal Health Minister Mark Butler told the ABC’s 7.30 program that the Albanese government was eagerly waiting for that advice.
‘ATAGI and governments are thinking particularly about being prepared for the next winter,’ he said.

‘We need to think firstly about an additional booster dose, and ATAGI has said to me we should expect that advice very early this year.’
‘We need to think about additional communications campaigns to the community about the need for them to consider very seriously getting those additional boosters, and that work is underway in government right now.’
Daily Covid case numbers were averaging 15,000 infections in December.
This has since fallen to an average of 6500 cases in January.
