Oscar nominations 2023: Bill Nighy, Colin Farrell, Paul Mescal and Andrea Riseborough lead the British and Irish Academy Award nominees as the full list is revealed

The British and Irish stars who have received a nod ahead of the 95th Academy Awards which will air later this year have been unveiled.

Colin Farrell, Paul Mescal, Bill Nighy and Andrea Riseborough all received a nomination in the Best Actor and Actress categories during the live nominations.

The nominations were announced by Riz Ahmed and Allison Williams ahead of the 95th Academy Awards, which will take place on March 12.

Andrea is a late addition to the Best Actress category for her performance in To Leslie, with buzz surrounding her role growing over the past two weeks.

Her place in the nominations was campaigned for by Hollywood heavyweights including Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox and Charlize Theron.

Host Riz took home the Oscar for best live action short film in 2022 for The Long Goodbye, where he was the co-writer, producer and star.

Meanwhile, Allison most recently starred in and executively produced the sci-fi horror M3GAN, which is already slated for a sequel.

The nomination presentation took place at the Academy’s Samuel Goldwyn Theater and aired live on Good Morning America and ABC News Live.

For those across the globe, they were able to tune into by streaming on Oscar.com and Oscar.org, as well as the Academy’s socials.

This year the Oscars will be hosted by chat show host Jimmy Kimmel at the iconic Dolby Theatre at Ovation Hollywood. 

It will mark Jimmy’s third outing as the Academy Award’s host, having hosted the Oscars in both 2017 and 2018.

Oscar buzz has surrounded the the top contenders for Best Picture, which ahead of the nods were The Banshees of Inisherin, Elvis, Everything Everywhere All at Once, The Fabelmans, Tár, and ‘Top Gun: Maverick.
