Jet2 passenger dies during flight from Turkey to Glasgow: Crew perform CPR in the aisle in front of horrified travellers

A passenger has tragically died on a flight from Turkey to Glasgow, forcing the plane to make an emergency landing.
The 44-year-old man died on the Jet2 flight on its way to Glasgow from Turkish resort city Antalya on Tuesday evening.
Cabin crew acted quickly to perform CPR on the man while the plane was still in mid-air. They spent 40 minutes giving the man chest compressions to try and resuscitate him, but staff were unable to prevent the death.
The pilot requested an emergency priority landing to ground the plane ahead of other aircraft in the queue.
The unnamed man was pronounced dead a short time after the emergency landing, as police confirmed a report was submitted to the Procurator Fiscal, Scotland’s death investigation authority.

The plane made its emergency stop at Glasgow Airport at 6.40pm yesterday evening.
One of the passengers on the plane told the Daily Record: ‘We were around 40 minutes away from landing and the next minute, all the cabin crew started running toward the seats behind me.
‘A man had been pulled onto the aisle and they were trying to give him mouth-to-mouth.
‘The pilot came on to inform us we were going to have to do an emergency landing due to a medical incident on-board. We had to land with all our cabin lights on and it was quite scary because you know that is quite dangerous.
The unnamed passenger said cabin crew were still trying to resuscitate the man during the emergency landing, as other passengers were crying and shaken up by the death.
‘When we landed, paramedics came on and they were still on the aircraft for about half an hour before people were let off. Everyone on the plane was really upset but the staff at Jet2 were so professional and respectful during the incident,’ the passenger said.
Police Scotland said: ‘We were made aware around 7.20pm on Tuesday, March 7 of a 44-year-old man taking unwell on board a flight which had arrived at Glasgow Airport. The man was pronounced dead a short time later.
‘A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.’
Airline carrier Jet2 also provided a statement, saying: ‘We can confirm that Flight LS110 from Antalya to Glasgow requested a priority landing on Tuesday evening, due to an unresponsive customer onboard. Regrettably, we can confirm that the customer passed away.
Our thoughts are with the customer’s family and friends at this very difficult time.
