Labor’s electric campaign bus runs out of battery just days before the NSW state election

  • Labor’s NSW campaign bus was out of order on Tuesday
  • There was an ‘issue with the charging’ of the electric bus

The Labor bus has run out of battery on one of the last days of the campaign trail.

The bus hit the road from Warragamba Dam in Sydney‘s southwest on Tuesday morning with travelling media and Labor staffers on board.

It is understood the bus battery ran out of charge on the way back to Camden for a street walk.

A Labor Party source told NCA NewsWire the bus did not break down but passengers were moved to a different bus ‘just to be safe’ after an ‘issue with the charging’.

Labor leader Chris Minns was not shy to boast about the 12.5 metre Australian-made bus at the start of his run for office, particularly the buses ‘all-electric’ status.

Reporters and staffers were quickly ushered onto a new bus by 11.30am to ensure they kept their next planned appearance.

Premier Dominic Perrottett was asked for his reaction to the Labor campaign bus running out of electricity, and whether that was a reflection of a lack of charging ports for electric vehicles.

Instead, the Premier took a swipe at his opponent.

‘It’s no surprise that Labor’s bus has broken down, just like their budget broke down yesterday,’ he said.

More to come.
