Coronation Street fans have become convinced that they have worked out who notorious killer Stephen Reid’s next victim will be.

Soap opera fans took to Twitter following Friday’s dramatic episode to share their fears for Michael Bailey after he confronted Stephen over his factory lies.

It comes after it was recently confirmed that Stephen will drown his next mystery victim as the killer is set to strike again, according to The Mirror

Michael (Ryan Russell) looks close to exposing his fellow factory worker Stephen’s web of lies after he discovered he hadn’t told the truth about a meeting for an American deal.

During a tense confrontation, Stephen (Todd Boyce) assured him that he had only pulled out of the deal because he had found a better deal with Rufus Donahue.

But when Michael tried to renegotiate better terms for the original deal, Stephen was left in a tricky position because Rufus had ordered him to tear up the deal.

Rufus had warned him that if Stephen didn’t give him sole rights to Nippersnapper, then he would tell people that he had been drugging his boss Carla (Alison King).

With Michael unaware of the dangerous position he is in as he threatens to expose Stephen’s lies, fans of the ITV show took to Twitter to share their fears for his safety.

Sharing their opinion that he was next on Stephen’s kill list, one person wrote: ‘Mikeys just asking for Stephen to kill him.’

While another warned: ‘Stay away from Stephen, Michael,’ and a third tweeted: ‘Michael is basically digging his own grave. Poor guy, I’m gonna miss him.’

A fourth predicted: ‘Michael is flaming next on Stephen’s list. You can it coming.’

And another added: ‘I think we’ve just seen Stevens next victim Michael.’

The latest twist comes after Stephen drugged his boss Carla in a bid to take over Underworld and tried to end her life by gassing her flat while she is asleep.

Stephen was on cloud nine when he was voted to take charge of the factory by the Underworld staff.

But Peter (Chris Gascoigne) was stunned to find him in charge at the factory and accuses the staff of stabbing Carla in the back.

Stephen was about to sign the American contract when Rufus (Steve Meo) appeared and told him to tear it up.

He demanded sole rights to Nippersnapper and warned Stephen if he doesn’t play ball, he will tell everyone how he’s been drugging Carla.

Stephen has been getting LSD through Rufus in a bid to make Carla appear unstable, allowing him to take charge of the factory.

Later, in a bid to cover his tracks, Stephen lied to Sarah, making out that the Americans have pulled out of the contract.

Peter then visited Carla and dropped the bombshell that the factory workers have voted to put Stephen in charge, leaving her devastated.

It comes after Stephen attempted to kill Carla while she recovered at home from another drug-fuelled outburst.

Having pocketed her keys from the factory, Stephen let himself into the flat and checking Carla was asleep, dropped her keys back in her bag before heading into the kitchen and turning on the grill.

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
