Samantha Armytage says that Farmer Wants A Wife is more ‘genuine’ than other dating shows: ‘They are there to find partners’

Samantha Armytage has lauded Farmer Wants A Wife as more ‘genuine’ than other reality dating shows.

The TV star, who hosts the program, tells TV Tonight that the farmers are truly looking for love, not fame.

‘When I think of the reality dating shows on television these days it’s a very genuine show’, the 46-year-old said.

‘The word ‘wholesome’ keeps coming up around it, which you don’t hear in TV that often these days,’ she continued.

‘The farmers are genuinely there to find partners and they’re all good blokes, and I enjoyed meeting them all.

‘We’re very proud about our agricultural industry in this country as we should be. So I think people really like farmers to do well. They’re the heroes of our story.’

Samantha has been lucky in love herself, and is smitten with her husband Richard Lavender, who is himself a country boy.

The millionaire equestrian businessman has revealed that his TV presenter wife was looking for a change when they met and began their romance.

‘There’s been a lot said about that stuff but, honestly, I think she was just looking for something a bit different when she met me’, Richard tells this week’s issue of Stellar.

‘She’s always been a happy person while I have been around her,’ he continued.

‘We have been enjoying what’s in front of us. It’s been really good. She’s a country girl, so it hasn’t been such a huge adjustment’.

Samantha chimed in that she was ‘lucky’ to meet Richard as the pair took part in the joint interview.

‘I think we make a good match. I was very lucky to find him at that point in my life,’ she said.

The couple look smitten in the accompanying shoot as they posed for photos at their Bowral property.

The journalist met her husband Richard, 60, at socialite Skye Leckie’s 60th birthday party in April 2019, and she said there was an instant connection.

They later got married on New Year’s Eve in 2020 on Richard’s 40-hectare property in Bowral.
