Heartstopper fans are sent into a frenzy as Netflix finally announces season two

Heartstopper fans were sent into a frenzy on Monday as Netflix finally announced a start date for season two after weeks of cryptic hints. 

The first season of the heart-warming LGBTQ+ coming-of-age show was released in April 2022 to much critical acclaim, launching stars Kit Connor (Nick) and Joe Locke (Charlie) into the limelight. 

Netflix has now announced that season two will premiere on August 3.  

Season one saw Charlie develop a crush on his popular classmate Nick at Truham Grammar School for boys. 

Although they are just friends at first, their chemistry is undeniable and they grow closer as Nick tries to figure things out.

Cast: The show has thrust stars such as Kit Connor (Nick) and Joe Locke (Charlie) into the spotlight

In Heartstopper Season 2 Netflix said: ‘Nick and Charlie navigate their new relationship; Tara and Darcy face unforeseen challenges; Tao and Elle work out if they can ever be more than just friends. 

‘Plus there’s exams, a school trip to Paris, and prom!’ 

Kit and Joe are asked in a trailer: ‘What do you think is new in season two and what can fans expect?’

Joe grins as he says: ‘I don’t know, what is new in season two,’ before the clip launches into a montage filled with sneak previews. 

Fans were delighted at the news, with one saying: ‘My faith in humanity is restored.’

Another added: ‘YASSSS FINALLY!!! IVE WAITED ALL DAY FOR THIS NEWS!’

But some were disappointed the new season wouldn’t be arriving sooner, saying: ‘August???? You mean I’ve got to wait 3 more months, I think you misspelt May there. I’m for real so excited for season 2’

A second fan felt similarly, adding: ‘IM SO HAPPY FOR A REALSE DATE BUT AUGUST? im super happy tho’
