The Block judge Shaynna Blaze sure knows a thing or two about renovating.
And now the TV personality and interior designer, 60, has revealed the one thing people are doing wrong when it comes to renovating their own homes.
Speaking to The Australian on Friday, Shaynna said that everyone is turning to social media for inspiration and are making their homes ‘soulless’ by following the ‘cookie-cutter’ design trend.
‘We’ve lived in this Instagram and Pinterest world for so long that people are just completely copying and pasting what someone else has done,’ Shaynna told the publication.
‘There’s a lack of soul in a lot of things people put out there and an oversaturation of vanilla, with people just white-washing their home and their life.’

She added: ‘Renovation costs a lot of money, and they don’t want to get it wrong, but people care too much about what others think and that’s where the cookie-cutter becomes a safety net.’
Shaynna is known for her work on The Block and Selling Houses Australia.
In recent weeks, Shaynna has been spotted on set of The Block in Melbourne filming the upcoming series.

In addition to Shaynna, Neale Whitaker and Darren Palmer, the panel of property experts will include real estate agent Marty Fox.
The upcoming season of The Block is being filmed in Hampton East, a Bayside suburb of Melbourne, just 14km from the CBD.
Western Sydney best mates Omar Slaimankhel and Ozman ‘Oz’ Abu Malik were crowned the winners of The Block last year.
They made the biggest profit over reserve out of all five houses, selling their reno for $5,666,666 and taking home a record-breaking $1.6million.
IT entrepreneur Danny Wallis placed the winning bid on their home, after getting into a bidding war with entrepreneur Adrian Portelli.
