The young man did not have any identification when his body was discovered.

Police are appealing for public assistance after a number of inquiries have failed to identify him.

‘Due to the inaccessible area the man was located (in), police believe he may have fallen into the water at another location,’ Tasmania Police said.

Police said the man appeared to be of ‘Sri Lankan, or similar, appearance’.

‘He is of slight build and believed to be aged between 18-25,’ Tasmania Police said.

‘He was wearing black trainers with white soles, black jeans, dark green t-shirt with a pink and blue rodeo emblem on the front, and a black puffer jacket.’

Police are undertaking medical examinations to determine the cause of the man’s death.

However at this stage, confirmed there is nothing to suggest the man died under suspicious circumstances.

Anyone with information that may help identify the man is urged to call police on 131 444.
