Police shoot a man dead in one of Sydney’s richest suburbs after he was threatening locals with several large knifes

A man has been shot dead in one of Sydney’s wealthiest suburbs after he threatened locals with several large knives. 

Locals claim the man was shirtless and knocking on their doors on Alexander Ave in North Willoughby while brandishing knives. 

The incident occurred just before 12pm.  

2GB’s breakfast host Ben Fordham was in the area when the shooting occured.  

‘First and foremost for anyone around the area, if you can be aware that there is a very serious police operation that is underway around Willoughby at the moment,’ he told colleague Deborah Knight. 

‘You’d be wise to avoid it if you possibly can.

‘Gunshots have been heard in the area of Willoughby.’
