At least FIFTEEN people are injured after Baltimore bus crashes into building, as city officials declare ‘mass casualty incident’

An out-of-control bus has slammed into a building in Baltimore, leaving at least 15 people hurt with two of the injuries possibly life-threatening. 

The MTA bus struck the building close to an intersection in the city’s Seton Hill neighborhood on Saturday morning. 

Baltimore Police said the bus crashed into a Lexus and a Nissan before it smashed into a nearby building. 

The scene was upgraded to a level one mass casualty incident following the arrival of emergency services, as 15 people, including the bus driver, were injured, according to Fox Baltimore.

Some people were treated at the scene while others required further care in hospital. 

Baltimore City Fire Department Director of Communications, Kevin Cartwright, said they received reports about a crash on the 400 block of North Paca Street. 

A preliminary investigation found the bus collided with a Lexus and struck a Nissan before it smashed into a building on the 500 block of West Franklin Street, according to police. 

The building was already partially evacuated before the incident and some damage was done to the first level but the upper levels are still intact. 

Baltimore City Police, Baltimore City Fire Department, MTA Police, medics and building inspectors are on the scene. 

No further details were immediately released by police. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
