Ex-Oasis manager Alan McGee denies two ‘hurtful and completely untrue’ allegations of rape as Metropolitan Police launch probe

  • The 62-year-old was accused of two separate rapes, it was revealed Saturday

The former manager of Oasis has denied two separate allegations of rape against him as ‘hurtful and completely untrue’ as the Metropolitan Police launch a probe into the claims.

The force has reportedly received two complaints of rape, one of which is said to have taken place in Southwark, South London, with the second allegedly occurring in Kensington and Chelsea, West London on May 22.

Alan McGee, 62, co-founded the independent record label Creation Records in 1983 and ran it until its closure in 1999.

He is credited with discovering Oasis, who he signed to the label immediately after watching them perform in Glasgow‘s King Tut’s venue in 1993.

He is best known for his management of the band when they became the largest group in Britain after releasing hit-album Definitely Maybe.

Mr McGee told the Sunday Mirror via a representative: ‘A number of allegations have been made against me, which are unfounded, hurtful and completely untrue.

‘These false allegations have crossed the line into serious defamation and I have been left with no option but to commence legal proceedings against the individual making them. I will not be making any further comment at this stage.’

Police are investigating two allegations of rape against a man, police said on Saturday.

MailOnline has contacted the Met Police for comment.
