Incredible moment deadly great white shark comes face-to-face with British photographer

Thrilling footage has emerged of a British photographer who narrowly escaped a shark attack after it appeared to want to face off with the man.

The video and images were captured by London-born filmmaker and photographer Euan Rannachan, 36, which show the shark heading and getting to within inches of the protective cage

He captured the footage on a Nikon D850 in a Aquatech water housing at Guadalupe Island about 120 miles off the coast of Mexico.

At one point, the shark got literally face to face with the brave photographer.

A great white shark weighs 5,000 pounds on an average and can go up to 23 feet long.

Mr Rannachan said: ”It was an unforgettable encounter with the king of the ocean’

Mr Rannachan said: ‘I captured this footage when we were at Guadalupe island.

‘It was an unforgettable encounter with the king of the ocean.

‘I was very excited because of the position of the boat and where the sun made it so I could see through the water really easily.’

According to researchers, there is a one in 4,332,817 chance of an individual dying as a result of a shark attack in their lifetime.

While unprovoked shark attacks are extremely rare worldwide – especially in the UK – they tend to be more common in certain locations.

Florida is deemed the shark bite capital of the world after 16 unprovoked attacks were reported there last year.

The International Shark Attack file has shared an interactive map on its website, pinpointing global incidents from as early as 1900.

Australia and the US are prime hotspots for vicious shark incidents, the data has shown, with 50 taking place there in 2022.
