There could be two gunman wearing camouflage and who shot the officers again as they lay injured on the ground, reports The Australian.

They then lit a fire in an attempt to smoke out the remaining officers who sought cover.

Queensland Police said ‘several’ police crews are now in attendance at the property.

The public has been told to avoid the area and nearby residents within the declared emergency zone must remain indoors.

‘Wains Road is closed, and the declaration zone encompasses the area between Chinchilla Tara Rd, Wieambilla Rd, Bennetts School Rd, and Mary Street,’ Queensland police said.

Police helicopters and officers from Queensland’s Special Emergency Response Team are in attendance.

Paramedics and two LifeFlight helicopters were also dispatched to the scene.
