£40,000 flies out of motorcyclist’s backpack as he rides along a freeway…unaware he has not zipped up his backpack

A man who saw £40,000 flying out of his backpack as he was riding along the freeway probably he wishes he went with a cashless option that day as a broken zip cost him thousands.
John Mark Barrientos was driving down the freeway in the Phillipines when his backpack broke on July 4 and the bills flew out of his backpack onto the windshields of surprised road users.
Many lept out of their cars or off their bikes to catch the money raining down on them, as a viral video taken by a motorccyclist also driving on the Cebu South Coastal Road shows.
Barrientos, who works fo an e-wallet loading kiosk at a shopping centre, said he only noticed his bag’s zip was broken when it was too late.
‘I saw the money flying frm the side mirror so I stopped to pick it up but then others were also collecting the money. Hopefully they return it, I don’t have money to pay for it all,’ he told a local radio station.

Footage of the incident shows traffic coming to a standstill and motorists helping Barrientos to pick up the money – but also sadly some that pocketed the cash for themselves.
After counting the money, Mambaling Police Station has said that around £14,000 of the money are still missing, despite three people already returning bills they picked up.
In the video, some people can be seen walking away from Barrientos with a stack of money – money the devastated Barrientos needs to pay back if it won’t be returned by those who took it.
Staff Sergeant Jonas Recaplaza urged Barrientos to come to the police station to pick up the money handed in so far, but also warned those who took some of the cash for themselves would be tracked down.

Those who don’t return the money to Barrientos could even face legal action, he further told a local radio station.
Police Colonel Ireneo Dalogdog of the Cebu City Police Office added to local media that police is investigating the incident.
They are trying to identify the owners of the other vehicles seen on the radio.
He said: ‘There are faces that can be seen on the video that was uploaded.
‘Whoever you are, if you are on the video and did not volunteer to return the money you picked up, please return it – even if it is just ot help the person who lost the money.’
