Napoli president Aurelio de Laurentiis has insisted only Paris Saint-Germain can afford Victor Osimhen this summer.

That will come as a blow to Manchester United and Chelsea, who had shortlisted the Napoli star as a top target.

Both Premier League clubs are desperate to bring in a goalscorer to lead the line next season.

And there are not many better options in Europe than Osimhen after a stunning season in Serie A.

But De Laurentiis appears to have shut the door firmly in United and Chelsea’s faces.

“The only club that could afford Victor Osimhen is Paris Saint-Germain,” De Laurentiis told Mediaset.

“If Nasser Al Khelaifi [PSG president] wants to send in a bid around €200m (£170m)… we wait and we see what happens.

“I personally think that Victor will stay here.”

United’s budget is somewhat restricted after signing Mason Mount for £55m while Andre Onana is on the brink of joining for £50m.

While Chelsea’s summer has been concentrated on exits rather than high-priced arrivals.

PSG, on the other hand, might have to dip into their vast wealth to bring in some attackers after losing Lionel Messi, while Kylian Mbappe and Neymar could also leave before the end of the summer.

And in terms of forwards, Osimhen ticks all the boxes for prospective clubs.

The Nigeria international was in lethal form last season as his 31 goals in all competitions fired Napoli to the Serie A title, as well as an appearance in the Champions League quarter-finals.

And at the age of 24, Osimhen still has plenty of time on his hands to grow even further into a complete forward.

But the chances of a departure remain low after the former Lille star was pictured in Napoli’s new kit ahead of the upcoming season.

The Italian club are desperate to defend their Scudetto next year while his mammoth fee will put off most clubs around the globe.

As for a move to the Premier League, Man United and Chelsea have other targets they are looking at.
