Revealed: The ‘tented city’ in London’s Park Lane – just yards from the Dorchester Hotel where a room costs more than £600 a night

A ‘tented city’ has been rebuilt by homeless people in London’s Park Lane – just yards from the Dorchester hotel where a room for the night costs more than £600.

Photos show how a group of people appear to have set up camp in the area, with several tents pitched next to each other, as well as chairs propped up nearby.

An illegal camp on London‘s Park Lane that was linked to a rise in crime and anti-social behaviour was torn down in 2021 – after seven years.

This came after a series of complaints from locals as a group of Romanians pitched themselves on the grass for long periods of time.

The area was blighted by trouble over a period of some seven years, with different groups coming and going, but causing disruption to those living and working in the affluent part of the city.

After the occupants left and abandoned their tents, authorities swooped in, armed with heavy machinery and removal vehicles, to clear up the mess in January 2021.

Council workers were forced to clear piles of rubbish and dismantle tents left on green space in the affluent area.
