Tottenham star Heung-min Son has admitted that he declined a move to Saudi Arabia this summer.

It was reported in June that Saudi Pro League champions Al Ittihad launched a bid worth £51million for the Spurs forward.

Tottenham were prepared to resist any tempting offers that may come their way, with Son still having two years left on his deal.

When initially asked about the speculation, he said: “I want to play more for Tottenham in the Premier League, I’ll prepare well when I’m back to Spurs.”

He has now reiterated his intentions to stay in north London despite coming off the back of a poor campaign by his standards.

The forward spoke to the media next to new boss Ange Postecoglou in Australia on their pre-season tour and said: “If I wanted to go there [Saudi Arabia], I would not be here.

“I love playing football, obviously money is also important but I dream for playing [in the] Premier League.”

He added: “Obviously most people are going there at the moment which is really, really interesting.

“But, the Premier League is still for me a dream to play for it, so I’m looking forward to this season.”

Despite seeing his usual standards drop last season, Son was still on hand to score 14 goals and assist another six for Spurs.

Tottenham fans also loved the loyalty the forward has shown to the club.

One said on Twitter: “Just make him captain he wants to be here.”

Another added: “Love the Guy! We are lucky to have Sonny.”

A third wrote: “Supported every manager. Manager’s dream.”

With Postecoglou now at the helm, he will be hoping to return to his former ways as the north London side eye a return to European football.

Son is known for forming a prolific partnership with Harry Kane but the striker could be heading for pastures new this summer.

Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain have both been linked with the 29-year-old who is entering the final year of his contract.

For now though, Spurs fans will be delighted to see that Son has committed his future to the club despite interest elsewhere.

The South Korea star is also delighted to be working with new manager Postecoglou, adding: Son said: “I’m really looking forward to it.

“When it was announced who the manager was I was really happy about it. We follow the Scottish league and we could see he was dominating it.

“I remember 2015 (and the Asian Cup final) and I’m really looking forward to the fantastic attacking football.”
