Chelsea look set to redevelop Stamford Bridge after they were given the green light to buy the houses from military veterans.

The Blues have struck a deal with charity ‘Stoll’ to purchase the properties close to their iconic ground in west London.

Such deal is part of a planned £2billion expansion of their current 40,341-capacity home.

Despite the move being subject to resident consultation, the club will buy the Sir Oswald Stoll Mansions site at the back of Stamford Bridge.

It is believed 50 current properties would remain, with new homes including better facilities being built. The final decision could take up to nine weeks, however, with autumn likely to see the final outcome.

Following the £4.25billion purchase of the club by Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital in May 2022, monies are understood to have been put away, which will go towards the redevelopment.

Chelsea had looked at potentially moving away from their current location, with Earl’s Court a location previously mentioned.

Such plans were rejected in April of this year, meaning they will now remain where they are.

The Blues could increase their capacity to 60,000, but the project could mean they play their fixtures elsewhere for up to four years.

Wembley, Twickenham, and Fulham’s Craven Cottage are potential venues, with more information likely to come in due course.
