Dale Weightman was born in Australia on 3 October 1959 to his parents, Brian and Maureen.

Brian (who passed away in 2020) was a local sporting legend who excelled in cricket and Australian rules football.

He participated in four championship games and 289 Sunraysia Football League games with the Mildura Imperials, gaining six clubs’ best and fairest awards.

Later, he coached for many junior football teams and received a life membership in appreciation for his dedication to several regional athletic organizations.

At the Imperials, Weightman would continue his Father’s legacy by playing for the junior teams, winning competition best and fairest accolades at the under-15 and under-17 levels, as well as three straight championships.

Richmond was the only permitted use of Victoria’s northwest at the time. Weightman was 17 when the Tigers moved him to Melbourne in 1977.

He enrolled at Melbourne High School and participated in the school squad that captured the “Herald Shield” for young athletes.

These games served as warm-ups for the Tuesday night series games of the VFL. In this series, Weightman first caught people’s attention.

Dale Weightman Siblings

Former AFL player Dale Weightman has three brothers and two sisters. The personal detail of Dale’s siblings is not available. Weightman is one of Brian “Reggie” Weightman’s first wife Maureen’s six children.

Despite having type 1 diabetes, Weightman continues to be active. At the Telstra Dome in 2005, Weightman took part in the EJ Whitten Legends Game against competitors who were frequently five or six years younger than him but still had an impact.
