Busy Philipps

Busy Philipps is talking more openly about her health experience. Before she found out she had Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), the actress from “Cougar Town” talked about how her symptoms made her daily life harder.

She posted a clip from Trevor Noah’s 2022 60 Minutes interview on August 12. In the interview, Trevor Noah talked about his own problems with ADHD. Busy shared that she had a similar realization. For many years, she thought she had depression, anxiety, and low self-esteem before she got diagnosed with ADHD.

What’s the one thing that has helped her manage this issue? She said, “Medication for ADHD is the only thing that has EVER helped alleviate those feelings for me.” She also talked about how a shortage of these drugs caused by government rules on making them has been really tough for her and many others.

She understands how people might have different opinions about using stimulants, but she knows that if your brain needs them, they can make a big difference. They help her feel better and function normally without feeling bad about herself.

Busy Philipps is used to talking openly about her mental health. In 2018, the actress from “Freaks and Geeks” talked about having postpartum depression after she had her first child, Birdie, who is now 13 years old. (She also has another daughter named Cricket, who is eight years old, with her ex-husband, Mark Silverstein.)

“I didn’t want anyone else touching her,” she said, according to People. “I felt like I was the only one that could help or soothe her. That was a hard time.”

Her friend Courteney Cox, on the other hand, advised her to seek help. According to Busy, “Courteney was like, ‘I think you should talk to a doctor about medication.’”

A month following her interview, she collaborated with the Child Mind Institute to create a video message for individuals dealing with similar challenges.

“Once you have the realization that what you’re going through is something that a lot of people struggle with, it feels kind of incredible to know that you’re not alone,” Busy remarked. “So, you’re not alone.”

It was advice she took to heart as well.

“It turns out that there’s nothing wrong with me,” she continued. “Once I was able to start talking about it, it relieved a lot of the anxiety and I was able to get help, therapy, and sometimes medication, which there’s nothing wrong with that either.”
