Kate’s life was completely turned upside down when she was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, a type of cancer. The news was devastating, but she knew that she had to be strong and fight the disease.

She expressed her gratitude towards the NHS and, in particular, the hematology unit at Torbay Hospital. Despite being in stage 4, they provided her with the best possible care and support, and ensured that she received prompt treatment.

Although Kate is relieved to hear that her cancer has been eradicated, she understands that it will take some time for her to recover completely. She admits that one of the scariest aspects of cancer is the vulnerability it causes.

As someone who likes to be in control, it was difficult for her to accept that she could no longer perform routine activities like spending time with her kids or doing household chores, and had to rely on others for assistance.

She made a lot of statements and said this also. It’s been a voyage or two, and she feels like she has been whipped up, spun around, and spit out the other side.

To have the diagnosis was also a complete shock.

She meant, she was told it wasn’t hereditary, wasn’t caused by her lifestyle; it was just one of those awful things that happened, that has been difficult to deal with like ‘why her?’”

But after a while, she began to question, “Why not her?” Cancer hits one among two individuals, so it shouldn’t happen to her either, but as she said, she always felt a little invisible and that it wouldn’t.”

Kate Haskell Hodgkin Lymphoma Chemotherapy

Kate had to undergo chemotherapy treatment within two weeks of being diagnosed, which was a very difficult time for her.

Chemotherapy is a cancer treatment that uses drugs to kill cancer cells.

The medications enter the circulation by a vein, a tablet, or an injection, where they go to cancer cells throughout the body.

The type of cancer, its stage, and the patient’s general condition will all influence the treatment method.

Chemotherapy medications harm healthy cells, such as those in the skin, hair, and digestive system, and fast cells, such as Cancer cells. Side effects of this include tiredness, nausea, and hair loss.

On the other hand, medicines and dietary adjustments can frequently be used to treat the negative effects of chemotherapy.
