Georgia Judge Christina Peterson

Christina Peterson (age 38, born in 1985) is a former Douglas County Judge who took office in 2020. But Peterson is in hot water with 30 ethics charges from the Georgia Judicial Qualifications Commission, which recommended she be removed from office. The Georgia Supreme Court hasn’t decided her fate yet.

Peterson first faced code violations in July 2021, initially with 50 counts, though 20 were later dropped. She claims she’s been unfairly targeted as the first Black probate judge in Douglas County. During last year’s hearings, she admitted to mistakes in her first year and vowed to improve.

One controversial incident was in 2021 when she was jailed and fined by a woman trying to amend her marriage license without a lawyer. Peterson later called her action harsh.

She also regretted an April 2021 email to David Emerson, then the chief judge of Douglas County Superior Court, questioning his authority and suggesting he retire, claiming the county had outgrown his spirit.

Christina Peterson arrested after allegedly pushing Atlanta cop

Peterson, a former Atlanta judge, was arrested in Atlanta early Thursday and now faces multiple charges, including felony obstruction of a police officer and simple battery against a police officer.

According to an Atlanta Police report, an officer working an extra job at the Red Martini Restaurant and Lounge on Peachtree Road in Buckhead spoke with a crying woman in the valet area early Thursday morning. When the officer approached the woman, Peterson allegedly hit him in the head.

Footage shows Peterson, a recently removed probate court judge, punching a local police officer following a brawl. In the video, Peterson says, “Take me where you wanna take me,” and claims she doesn’t need identification, referencing her experience with unidentified bodies.

Peterson later claimed the clip was taken out of context, stating the altercation occurred because she was unfairly arrested while trying to help a woman being “viciously attacked” by an unnamed man not seen in the footage.

Alexandria Love, the woman Peterson helped, defended her at a press conference. Love wore a cast, while Peterson’s attorney, Marvin Arrington Jr., vowed to defend her client, calling it a case of “No good deed goes unpunished.” He criticized the arrest, noting that the man allegedly attacking Love was not arrested.

Later, more footage showed Peterson struggling as officers escorted her into a law enforcement building, repeatedly saying, “Don’t touch me!” The report noted Peterson refused to identify herself and appeared to be under the influence.

Once at the jail, she still refused to give her name, telling officers to notify another officer to identify her.

Peterson waived her first court appearance at Fulton County Magistrate Court on Thursday morning. Her attorney vowed to fight the charges, arguing that Peterson was unfairly arrested while trying to be a Good Samaritan.
