Whitehead Misused $90K in Retirement Savings and Extorted $5K

In one instance, Whitehead convinced a parishioner to invest approximately $90,000 of her retirement savings with him. Instead of using the funds as promised, he spent the money on luxury goods and personal expenses.

In another case, he extorted $5,000 from a businessman and attempted to persuade the same individual to lend him $500,000 and grant him a stake in certain real estate transactions. Whitehead falsely claimed that he could secure favorable actions from the New York City government in return.

His bail was revoked by Judge Lorna G. Schofield, and he has been held in custody since then. Manhattan federal prosecutors successfully argued that he should remain behind bars ahead of his July sentencing for what they described as a “crime of violence.”

Police discovered he had fraudulently obtained over $2 million in loans and bought cars, victimizing more than 50 people in states like Tennessee, Georgia, and New York.
