Right after that, Westerfield quit her job at Cascade Christian Schools. The police wanted to talk to a student, who was 18 at the time. But he didn’t want to talk about anything s*xual. He did admit he was close to Westerfield and she visited him at his place a few times.
In August 2022, someone from the state education office called the police. They found out Westerfield was trying to get a job with the state Charter School Commission. Three months later, they said Westerfield lost her teaching license and her job.
A detective called the student’s dad the day Westerfield lost her job. The dad said his son, who was studying psychology in college, might have more to say about Westerfield.
When detectives talked to the student again, he told them about having se*x with Westerfield and how they tried to hide it. He felt bad about it later, thinking how bad it would look to parents and teachers. He stopped talking to Westerfield in the fall of 2020.
The police arrested Westerfield at her house in Centralia on October 13, 2022. She didn’t say anything to them and asked for a lawyer instead.

Following the guilty plea, Lindsey Westerfield was convicted of three counts of first-degree s*xual misconduct with a minor, stemming from her involvement in s*xual activity with a student during the spring of 2019 while serving as a staff member at Cascade Christian High School.
In conjunction with her conviction, Westerfield has been mandated to register as a s*x offender for 10 years. Additionally, she is obligated to undergo treatment relevant to her offense for a duration of four years and six months.
Further stipulations of her sentencing include a directive to abstain from any form of contact with the victim, who was 23 years old at the time of the offense, and a prohibition from holding any position involving the supervision of minors under the age of 13.
The sentencing was pronounced by Pierce County Superior Court Judge Timothy Ashcraft, comprising a 54-month suspended sentence. It is pertinent to note that Westerfield had no prior criminal convictions at the time of sentencing.
