Tragically, on May 11, 2024, Ella’s life was cut short while enjoying a friend’s birthday celebration aboard a family boat. During a water skiing session near Nixon Beach off Key Biscayne around 4:30 p.m., she was struck by a center console boat with a light blue hull that fled the scene.
Reports from first responders indicated Ella was wearing a life vest and ski boards at the time of the accident. The severity of the incident was underscored by radio transmissions describing “a lot of blood in the water.”
Authorities are looking for the person responsible for the crash. They’re offering a reward of up to $20,000 for information about the boat and its driver. Anyone who saw what happened is asked to help the investigation by contacting the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC).
