Authorities are concerned for the welfare of a man after medication was stolen from a vehicle outside a veterinary clinic in Victoria’s Gippsland region last night.

Police said an on-call vet was restocking the vehicle at a business on Johnson Street in Maffra about 6.20pm.

It’s understood the staff member returned to the vehicle and saw an unknown male walking away holding something.

Police said the latches on the vehicle’s canopy were open and she quickly noticed some medication had been stolen.

Authorities said there are concerns regarding the theft as the medication is meant for animals and could be potentially fatal if used by humans.

The man is described as tall and was wearing a black face mask and a grey hoodie.

Maffra is about 220 kilometres east of Melbourne.
