The first incident occurred when two cars were set alight and then driven through the fence of a property on McCracken Street in Essendon about 2am.

A 47-year-old man and a 32-year-old woman were home at the time but were not physically injured.

The front fence and window of the home were damaged following the suspicious fire. 

Police are investigating the incident, describing the fire as “targeted”.

The second incident occurred when another car was set alight and driven into a convenience store in nearby Meadows Heights, about 13km away.

A crime scene has been established and police believe the incident was suspicious.
