A body has been found in a creek near a busy Westfield shopping centre in Brisbane as police declare a crime scene. 

The body was pulled from Downfall Creek along Murphy Road, near a Westfield shopping centre at Chermside, at about 10am on Thursday morning. 

A Queensland Police spokeswoman said they believed it was a man. 

‘A member of the public called it in to us,’ she said. 

‘The area has now been declared a crime scene.’

Investigations are continuing. 

Members of the public have been urged to avoid the area.
