A former Perth bikie boss has been found guilty of possessing hundreds of thousands of dollars of dirty cash.

But Karl Labrook’s sentencing was delayed on Monday so he could attend the birth of his third child, due to be delivered in the afternoon by caesarean.

The Rebels boss was found guilty of possessing almost $500,000 of stolen or unlawfully obtained cash, about $208,000 of which was found inside a Christmas present in the back seat of his car during a roadside search by police in 2022.

The rest of the cash, $247,700, was uncovered at racing identity Kellie Kersley’s Ascot home.

But the magistrate found the 54-year-old’s evidence and that of his bookkeeper lacked credibility, saying the explanations were suspicious.

Labrook’s defence lawyer conceded jail time was the only appropriate penalty, but asked for sentencing to be put off so he could attend the birth of his baby on Monday afternoon.

Kerlsey was sentenced last year to 12 months behind bars for her involvement.

Labrook will face sentencing next month.
