Four teenagers have been charged following an alleged police pursuit through regional New South Wales earlier this week.

Police were called to a property in Wallsend, Newcastle on Monday night after reports that a Hyundai Kona was allegedly stolen from the address.

The Kona was allegedly spotted in the Fletcher and Maryland areas at 2am yesterday following a number of break-and-enter attempts.

Police tried to stop the car a short time later on Griffiths Road, in Lambton, when a pursuit was initiated and continued into Jesmond and Elermore Vale until it was called off.

The car was found abandoned on Ring Road in Callaghan a short time later, where a group of people were seen allegedly running from the vehicle.

Four teenagers, three aged 16 and one aged 18, were arrested in Shortland, before being taken to Waratah Police Station.

Two 16-year-olds were charged with aggravated break and enter with intent to commit serious indictable offence, face blackened/disguised with intent to commit serious indictable offence, and be carried in conveyance without the consent of the owner.

Both appeared in children’s court yesterday.

They were refused bail and will appear in the same court on May 27.

Another 16-year-old was charged with being in conveyance without the consent of the owner.

He appeared in court in children’s court on yesterday and was granted strict conditional bail and will appear in court again on June 11.

The 18-year-old was charged with being carried in a  conveyance without the consent of the owner.

He was refused bail and will appear in Newcastle Court today.
