A man has died after falling from a Mercedes on far north coast of New South Wales yesterday evening.

Emergency services were called to the Pacific Motorway, about 4km south of the Tweed Valley Way exit, Chinderah, at about 6.30pm yesterday after a man fell from a car onto the road.

The man, aged in his 20s, was a passenger in a Mercedes when he fell from the car and was struck by a passing driver.

The man was helped by members of the public, however, he died at the scene.

The driver of the Mercedes, a 27-year-old man, underwent a roadside breath test which allegedly returned a positive result.

He was arrested and underwent a breath analysis at a police station, which allegedly returned a reading of 0.074.

He was given an infringement notice for low range drink driving and taken hospital for mandatory testing.

Police are investigating the incident. Any witnesses or anybody with dashcam footage are urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
