Paramedics were called to Harbour Point Shopping Complex at Hope Island this afternoon to find a man, believed to be aged in his 20s, with stab wounds to the chest.
It’s believed he had been dragged from his car and attacked about 2.30pm.
Shocked shoppers watched the scene unfold, with the weapon described as a large knife.
One person said it was “absolutely terrifying”.
The victim was treated by first responders but died at the scene.
The car park also backs onto the famous Sanctuary Cove Golf Course, which was searched. A road block was set up as police checked every car.
Queensland Police confirmed it has launched a homicide investigation, and asked witnesses to come forward.
A 25-year-old man was arrested this evening. He has not been charged.
