A pedestrian has died after being struck by two vehicles in Melbourne last night.

The woman was walking across Stud Road in Dandenong when she was allegedly struck by a silver Mercedes sedan at about 9pm.

Police believe the impact threw her into the middle of the northbound lane of the road when a second vehicle, a dark-coloured SUV, hit her.

The driver of the Mercedes stopped at the scene, however, the driver of the SUV continued driving north towards Rowville.

The woman was taken to hospital but passed away shortly after.

She has not been formally identified.

Police are still trying to determine the circumstances around the incident.
