A woman has been found dead inside a home while a man has been taken into custody following the grim discovery.

The body of the 51-year-old woman was found by paramedics responding to a call for assistance on Kallaroo Road in Pialligo, Canberra, at about 9.45am on Tuesday. 

She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officers from ACT Policing attended the home and began investigating the circumstances of the woman’s death.

A 52-year-old man was taken into custody later on Tuesday afternoon and assisted police with enquiries.

‘At this time no charges have been laid and investigations into the matter are continuing,’ ACT Police said in a statement.

Officers, including forensic specialists, are expected to remain at the semi-rural home on Wednesday as investigations continue. 

Police have not revealed the woman’s suspected cause of death.
