Police are hunting for a man who allegedly tried to assault a female staff member at the University of New South Wales.

The woman reported she had been allegedly threatened by a man armed with a knife at the Kensington campus on High Street about 6.20am today.

She was uninjured and police were called to investigate.

In their attempt to locate a man, police have released an image and description of him to appeal for public assistance.

“He is described as being in his 30s, of Caucasian appearance with a large build, with dark hair and eyes,” police said.

“He has tattoos on his left forearm and right leg.

“When last seen he was wearing a red t-shirt, black shorts and light-coloured shoes.”

The man is believed to be in the Bondi area.

Anyone who sights the man is urged not to approach and contact Triple-Zero immediately.
