An unknown man is wanted by police after he knocked a woman off her e-scooter in Melbourne’s CBD last month.

Tracey Westwood was in the city for a weekend escape with her husband and friends when she decided to ride an e-scooter to lunch on Mother’s Day.

The 48-year-old, who lives with rheumatoid arthritis, said she opted for an e-scooter after feeling sore from walking the previous day.

“There was plenty of room on (the footpath) and there was no one else other than this particular male,” Westwood said.

“As I approached this male, he put his hand out and knocked me completely off the scooter.

“It happened so quickly.”

CCTV has been released of the person, police would like to speak with. (Victoria Police)

Bystanders stopped to assist the 48-year-old, who lost consciousness at the scene.

“All I could see was me going towards the ground. I felt the side of my face hit the ground hard,” Westwood said.

“I didn’t know what was going on. I was in total shock.”

The 48-year-old was left with a cut near her eye, bruising, swelling and bleeding.

Westwood said the unknown man didn’t say a word to her, before running to cross the road in front of oncoming traffic.

She urged the man to come forward.

“My husband.. our friends… were all in shock that someone could do this to someone who didn’t provoke them,” Westwood said.

“There was no reason for him to do what he did.”

Police are now seeking a man who they believe may be able to assist with their enquiries.

He is Caucasian in appearance, between 30 and 40 years old, of medium build and about 177cm tall.

He was wearing a grey hooded jumper, dark pants, white shoes, and a black cap with an orange logo. He was also carrying a white plastic bag.
