A teenager has been charged with vandalising the memorial of Iyzaa-Jay Naden after the 18-year-old was allegedly stabbed to death in Doonside earlier this year.

Naden died on April 12 after being allegedly stabbed outside of a school in Doonside on Power Street in Sydney’s west.

He was driven to Blacktown Police Station and was left on the footpath outside, where he died from his injuries.

On April 15, a memorial set up to honour Naden was allegedly damaged after three people kicked items and they were strewn across the road.

The alleged vandalism was recorded and posted on social media, triggering an investigation by NSW Police.

Investigators executed a search warrant at homes in Eastern Creek and Ropes Crossing in May as part of the investigation, seizing mobile phones and clothing.

A 17-year-old boy was arrested at Mt Druitt Police Station at 11.20am yesterday following further inquiries.

He has been charged with affray, destroying or damaging property, and failing to comply with a digital evidence access order direction.

Police will allege the 17-year-old posed as a mourner before deliberately destroying the memorial and fleeing.

He is a member of a western Sydney street gang, police also alleged.

He was granted strict conditional bail and will appear in Children’s court on June 24.

Investigations continue.
