Three men have been arrested after leading police on a pursuit through Melburne’s east overnight.

Police first spotted a silver Mercedes coupe driving erratically at speed near Montpellier Road in Burwood about 3.30am.

Officers attempted to intercept the Mercedes, but the car took off.

The car was followed at distance by police both on the ground and in the air as it travelled through Ashwood and Burwood.

Police said the offenders dumped the car in Livingstone Close in Burwood, before they fled the scene on foot.

A 30-year-old Ringwood East man, a 31-year-old Warrandyte man and a 24-year-old Ashwood man were arrested nearby.

The trio are assisting police with enquiries.
