Guardian Childcare today alerted all patrons who have visited a centre that its IT systems had been targeted and identification documents were stolen.

“Following an extensive investigation of the incident, we have become aware that a scanned image of the ID document you provided at the time of your visit may have been compromised by the attacker,” an email from the childcare provider read.

Guardian said its investigations indicated no other information had been compromised. (Nine)

Guardian said its investigations indicated no other information had been compromised.

There are about 60 centres across the state with up to thousands of customers between them.

Guardian said it reported the attack to authorities and took steps to strengthen its systems.

The company advised families to contact the authority that provided their identification and request a replacement and to keep an eye out for unusual scam activity.
