A 49-year-old woman and a 15-year-old boy were arrested by detectives yesterday.
The pair were interviewed by police and the woman was charged with murder.
The 15-year-old boy was released without charge.
Detectives believe the pair are known to the deceased woman, who is yet to be formally identified.
Police are also continuing to investigate the death of a man, who was discovered by a member of the public near Saltriver Place in Footscray.
Detectives have confirmed the two incidents were not linked and the man’s death is not being treated as suspicious.
Police are also keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed any suspicious activity between 12pm on Friday and 10.30am on Sunday around Glamis Road in West Footscray or Smithfield Road in Flemington.
The 49-year-old woman was remanded to appear at the Melbourne Magistrates Court today.
