In her 30s and about to marry a lawyer, Binta Ayo Mogaji had an ectopic pregnancy. She was quickly moved to seven different hospitals. The doctor who operated on her said he wasn’t sure if she would make it through alive. The operation took seven to nine hours. When Mogaji’s coworkers came to see her at the hospital, they were crying.

Mogaji, even though she had only one fallopian tube, gave birth to her son in a natural way just six weeks after turning 40 years old. She had made up her mind that if she did not have a baby by the age of 40, then she would adopt a child instead. Mogaji said she did not want to get married at that moment, and Jibola, who is the father of her child, also did not have any interest in marrying.
