‘Axe-wielding attacker’ is charged with trying to murder two men in their 40s at London hospital before ‘turning the weapon on himself’ during rampage: Suspect is set to appear in court
An ‘axe-wielding attacker’ has been charged in connection with trying to murder two men in their 40s in a London hospital, before reportedly turning the knife on himself.
Matteo Bottarelli, 43, is due to appear at Willesden Magistrates’ Court today after being charged with three counts of attempted murder and two counts of threatening violence with a bladed article in a public place.
Armed officers were called to Central Middlesex Hospital in London on Wednesday following reports that two people had been stabbed.
The hospital was placed on lockdown, with frightened patients and staff reportedly being told to hide.
On arrival Metropolitan Police officers found two men, both believed to be in their 40s, with stab injuries. Cops believe they were attacked with a mattock.
