Legendary singer Billy Joel is ‘Movin’ Out’ of his 26-acre, Long Island waterfront estate and hoping for a payday of $49million on the market.
Joel, 74, is selling the North Shore mansion in the Long Island suburb of Oyster Bay after having paid $22.5million for it in 2002.
He has recently been adding to the parcels of land he owns at what is known as Middlesea, trying to restore the original 1950s version of the estate.
The platinum-selling piano man briefly put the property on the market for $37.5million in 2006.
Bonnie Williamson, the listing agent for Daniel Gale Sotheby’s of International Realty, said that Joel and wife Alexis Roderick have spent more time of late in Florida, necessitating the sale.

The estate is near Joel’s Long Island hometown of Hicksville and about 40 miles east of Manhattan.
The estate features a 20,000-square-foot mansion, floating doc and a beach house with several guest rooms.
There’s also a gate house, two outdoor pools – one of which Joel more or less covered up to use as a music room – and even a helipad.
The main house is currently being renovated but features five bedrooms, covered porches, brick columns, archways, as well as a two-story entrance hall with marble tiled floors.
One of the renovations currently happening are for a playroom for children, according to the Wall Street Journal.
The main house also has everything from a spa to a hair salon to a bowling alley and wine cellar.
Williamson said that the renovations and construction are scheduled to be finished by the end of the summer or early fall.
‘Whoever buys will want to do their own selections of how to paint and decorate and perhaps style the kitchen,’ she added, explaining why he’s selling mid-renovation.
Joel’s estate in Florida is located in the town of Lantana. He purchased it for $22million in 2015.

He also reportedly own a second Long Island property in Sag Harbor.
Even if they don’t sell for market price, Middlesea will likely be the most expensive home for sale in Oyster Bay, with the next highest price at $8.5million, Zillow says.
However, he’ll have to battle a slumping housing market, as Long Island luxury sales dropped 34 percent in the first quarter over 2022, according to expert Douglas Elliman.
Joel, a Long Island native, has written enduring hits such as ‘Piano Man,’ ‘Just the Way You Are,’ ‘Only the Good Die Young,’ ‘Movin’ Out (Anthony’s Song),’ ‘Pressure,’ ‘Uptown Girl’ and ‘We Didn’t Start the Fire.’
He has sold over 150 million records and has been carrying on a residency at New York City’s Madison Square Garden for the past nine year.
He will be doing a tour of stadiums in 2024 with fellow rock n’ roll legend Stevie Nicks.
