Nicola Coughlan and Luke Newton opened up about THAT carriage scene on BBC’s The One Show on Wednesday night and revealed it took ‘two days’ to shoot.

Speaking to Jermaine Jenas and Lauren Laverne, Nicola, 37, and Luke, 31, thrilled fans with extra details about their now-infamous intimate scene.

Jermaine, 41, asked the pair of the scene: ‘I hear the filming of the scene took a bit longer than they expected, apparently?’

Luke answered: ‘Yeah, absolutely. For a five-minute scene, I think it took us two days’ and an amused Nicola cut in: ‘That’s not what he means.’

Taking over, Nicola explained: ‘Basically, we were filming it and we were really enclosed in this carriage on a sound studio and there was four burly dudes…’

Addressing Jermaine, Luke interrupted: ‘I see what you mean, sorry.’

Nicola continued: ‘So, we were filming the scene, and it was intimate, and we knew that there were certain points we had to hit, but then, we were doing the kissing, and [the director’s] not calling “Cut.”

‘In my head I was going: “This is really long, this feels really long.” We kept going, but eventually I was like: “This is crazy”, so I stopped and said: “Oh, we’re at Bridgerton house!”

‘So, then it ended, and the set was dead silent, and I think: “What is going on?”

‘And then the director comes over to the window of the carriage, and he was like: “What were you doing?’

‘And we were like “What?” And he was like: “I was shouting: ‘Cut! Stop!'”

‘We genuinely couldn’t hear anything. It was like soundproof.’

Joining Nicola and Luke on the green sofa was Boy George and he looked thoroughly entertained by the story.

The second half of Bridgerton’s hotly anticipated third season is set for release on Thursday, June 13.

Fans are gagging to see what happens next in Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan) and Colin Bridgerton’s (Luke Newton) love story.

Viewers can expect things to get even more steamy between the pair, with Nicola and Luke previously revealing that they filmed so many romps that by the end they were comfortable lounging around together naked between takes.

In the first four episodes of series three, there was six minutes of kissing, sex, threesomes and lesbian love-making.

It was a jump from the lack of steamy scenes in the second series, which included just a meagre three minutes of bedroom action amid eight hours and 29 minutes of screen time.

Nicola previously revealed: ‘I think we’ve won the sauciness for this series!’ as she detailed the sex scenes.

She teased what fans can expect to see, telling Entertainment Weekly: ‘We did break a piece of furniture while doing one scene. It’s a little bit like a stunt in which they’re like, ‘Okay, we’re gonna do this, this, and this.

‘But then they gave us freedom and we had a lot of say in how we did those scenes and what we wanted to do. That makes you feel quite empowered. So, we felt super. They were actually really enjoyable. I didn’t think they would be. It was fun.’
