Paramedics rushed to treat several young kids from the Milestones Early Learning in Keperra in Brisbane’s north on Thursday afternoon.

The children were suffering with various reactions including ‘redness to the face and body’.

‘All children at the centre have been exposed to an unknown substance in their lunch,’ Queensland Ambulance wrote in a letter to worried parents.

More than ten children at a Brisbane daycare centre have ingested an ‘unknown substance’ which has caused swelling and rashes prompting them to be rushed to hospital

‘These include redness to the face and body, swelling to the lips and face, agitation/irritation.’

The letter said the chances of delayed onset of symptoms remains rare and urged parents to not panic.

Queensland Ambulance suggested parents can check their child in with their GP if they have concerns.

It recommended to anyone worried about their kid’s breathing or airway to take them to a hospital or call triple-0 immediately.

The centre sent out text messages to parents just before 2pm asking them to collect their kids after children presented with an ‘unknown skin rash’.

‘Medical advice is being strictly followed,’ the text read.

A QAS spokeswoman said none of the kids were taken to hospital by ambulance.

The children are all stable and the symptoms only lasted for a short time.

A father who did not want to be named said his child didn’t have lunch and did not experience any health issues.

‘It’s a good centre. We’ve been here for over a year and there have been no problems,’ he told the Courier Mail.

A Milestones Early Learning Keperra spokesperson said all safety polices and medical advice had been ‘strictly’ followed during the scare.

It added the cause of the rash was being investigated.
