Desperate renter stunned by random acts of kindness when her yard became overgrown before a real estate inspection while she cared for her cancer-stricken mother

A Queensland woman says she has been ‘completely blown away’ after community members rallied to her call for help to tame her overgrown garden.

Virginia took to social media to ask for help after she urgently moved interstate for four months to care for her mother after she was diagnosed with cancer.

She dropped everything to be there for her mum, which resulted in her garden becoming overgrown and her letterbox becoming infested with wasps, so she reluctantly took to social media to ask for help.

Virginia said she had a rental inspection looming and felt like she had no other option but to rely on the kindness of strangers.

Within minutes of posting her plea, she was inundated with messages from strangers offering their help for free.

Virginia told YahooNews that by 8am the following morning a man – who wished to remain anonymous – was on his way to help.

‘He mowed, removed all the weeds that had grown in the grass, and even tidied the front of the house area so it looked presentable again,’ Virginia said.

The man said he would always be there to help those in need as he had been going through a ‘rough time’ himself.

‘I think my problems or worries are never too big that I should be self-absorbed and not give back to the community,’ he said.

‘And I love moving lawns, there is something so therapeutic about it.’

The renter was also contacted by a local business that offered to remove the wasp nest, while others reached out to offer their services in case anything else needed to be done.

‘It felt like everyone had been waiting to hear the good news that I had received the help I needed and (everyone) was ready to celebrate the efforts of the community,’ Virginia said.

‘Everyone’s kindness has truly helped me see the light in such a dark situation. It was such a needed reminder of the good that is in this world – I am proud to call this place home.’
