Dramatic moment man wrestles with knife-wielding thug in the middle of the road after being stabbed in bid to disarm him

Dramatic footage shows the moment a man disarmed a knife-wielding thug after being repeatedly stabbed during a tussle in the middle of a road. 

Video shows two men grappling on Slade Road in Erdington, Birmingham, which has previously been dubbed ‘Britain’s roughest street’. 

The clip shows the pair wrestling in the middle of the road as cars drive past and pedestrians watch in shock at around 7.40pm on July 18. 

The knifeman in turn loses control of the weapon before walking away calmly as a distressed onlooker shouts ‘call the police’. 

The altercation resulted in one individual being taken to hospital with ‘serious injuries’ after he was stabbed.

The shocking video shows the two men wrestling as onlooker can be heard saying: ‘He’s stabbing him up, he just took that knife about ten times you know.’

A female witness then repeatedly shouts ‘call the police’ until the fight comes to an abrupt end when one of the men gets up and casually walks away.

Slade Road in Birmingham has been dubbed ‘Britain’s roughest street’ with residents claiming it is blighted by ‘£1 prostitutes, drug pushers, and gangs,’ according to the Birmingham Post. 

West Midlands Ambulance Service confirmed one male victim suffered ‘serious injuries’ following the altercation last Tuesday evening.

A service spokesperson said: ‘We were called to reports of a stabbing at the junction of Kings Road and Slade Road at 7.50pm on Tuesday.

‘One ambulance, a paramedic officer and a MERIT trauma doctor attended the scene.

‘On arrival we discovered one patient, a man, who was treated for serious injuries before being taken to hospital.’

A West Midlands Police spokesperson added: ‘We’re investigating after a man was stabbed near Slade Road, Erdington, at around 7.40pm on Tuesday (18 July).

‘A man was taken to hospital with injuries which were not life-threatening. We’re carrying out enquiries in the area.

‘We’re aware of a video which was shared on social media at the weekend, and we would ask anyone with information to contact us to assist our investigation.

The disturbing footage has since been viewed more than 11,000 times after being uploaded by the Birmz Is Grime blog.

One web user asked: ‘Am I the only person who would have got out their car and helped? What is going on with humanity??’

Another commented: ‘I liturally [sic] can not believe others stood there watching instead helping.’

A third added: ‘Imagine standing there and potentially filming someone get murdered.’

Another wrote: ‘And everyone is watching as if it is a normal daily routine!! What is happening to humanity.’

The video comes after police tasered a machete-wielding knifeman in a McDonalds restaurant in Birmingham city centre on 23 July. 

Terrifying footage shows officers surrounding a hooded youth with a huge machete in a crowded fast-food outlet. 

Police then taser the machete-wielding man before swooping in and seizing the weapon from his hands.
