Two young sisters were among a group of youths tragically cut down in a horrific car crash in country Victoria.

Jorja Fox, 17, remains in The Alfred hospital in a serious but stable condition days after her sister Megahn, 14, was killed in the crash alongside teens Joshua Elmes, Lucus Garzoli and Alicia Montebello, who was aged in her 30s.

All four were killed when the car they were in veered off Wannon-Nigretta Falls Road at Bochara, 320km west of Melbourne, and smashed into a tree in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Chilling footage from inside the car earlier that night shows the vehicle speeding along a narrow country road while rap music blares out.

Police are yet to reveal who was behind the wheel of the speeding car, with detectives hopeful Jorja can assist them with their inquiries when and if she’s well enough.

Daily Mail Australia can reveal Jorja shared a close bond with Ms Montebello, who posted an image of her together with the Fox sisters on March 19.

‘My best friend Jorja Fox I love you little one,’ she posted with a heart emoji.

It is a post that has since earned an angry emoji from Jorja’s sister Kayla, who took to social media to pay tribute to her sisters on Monday.

‘Rest in peace my precious angel forever in my heart. Life isn’t gunna be the same without your goofy personality or that sweet heart,’ she wrote on Instagram.

‘You were the best little sister I could ask for. I love you so much Meghan. My heart aches so much knowing your not right behind me.’

While Kayla paid tribute to the other teens killed in the crash, her post omitted any reference to Ms Montebello.

Daily Mail Australia has attempted to contact several family members of those affected, but has received no responses.

Images posted to Jorja’s Facebook page show her embracing Joshua, who was dressed in his Army cadet uniform.

Other images show the pair enjoying fun times together, with Jorja wearing Joshua’s cadet hat.

‘U make such a good couple,’ one friend posted under the image.

Joshua had been member of the 314 Army Cadet Unit out of Warrnambool with his mate Lucus.

On Sunday, Police Assistant Commissioner Glenn Weir confirmed a witness saw the group’s car leaving a local waterfall park about 1am on Saturday.

The wreckage was found by a passer-by at Wannon-Nigretta Road about 9am.

Mr Weir said a crash reconstruction on the narrow strip of road where the accident occurred indicated the car was travelling well in excess of 100km/h.

‘To do that speed on that road at that time of day, any time really, is just incomprehensible to me,’ he said.

On Tuesday, a police spokesperson said the investigation remained ongoing and could provide no further details.

On Monday, the parents of Joshua told reporters they had warned their son not to get in the car with an unnamed woman who was reportedly driving dangerously only last year.

Matthew Elmes, 46, and Lee Ann Elmes, 41, went to the police but they were told there was ‘nothing they could do’ without proof.

It is unclear if that was the same woman who was behind the wheel on Saturday.

‘I went to the police about it,’ Mr Elmes told the Herald Sun

The Elmes family said they were disillusioned when police officers told them that there was ‘nothing they could do’ without proof.

Mr Elmes said local teens had been seeking out adrenaline rush activities, including speeding.

‘If you want an adrenaline rush, it’s probably better to go to a theme park or go skydiving, but don’t get in a car and seek an adrenaline rush. That’s what has been happening with these kids,’ he said.

‘They’re just pushing the boundaries too much; they’re driving too fast just for the adrenaline rush.’

He said Joshua was prone to making impulsive decisions as a result of an ADHD diagnosis.

Mrs Elmes has set up a fundraiser online to help support the families involved in the tragedy.
