Little girl, 6, is fighting for life after being viciously mauled by a dog and ‘dragged’ across a backyard after the animal jumped the fence

A six-year-old girl is fighting for her life in hospital after being attacked by a dog.

The attack happened Ormesby St, Woodridge, south of Brisbane, just before 4.30pm on Monday. 

It is understood the little girl is currently in Queensland Children’s Hospital after sustaining significant abdominal, chest and shoulder injuries.

It is understood the girl was on a fence when the dog jumped up and dragged her into the yard.

A male relative of the girl jumped the fence to rescue her and was also bitten, sustaining leg injuries.

It is understood the girl’s injuries are significant and she was taken to hospital under lights and siren.

The male, in his late 20s, was taken to the QEII Jubilee Hospital in a stable condition.

A dog was seen being removed from a property, and police remained at the scene until about 6.30pm.

Police said the Child Protection Investigation Unit had been notified.
